What a great 2025 harvest!
Postponed from February 16 to February 22 due to a storm, but it didn’t deter attendance! Approximately 650-700 came to our annual ice harvest. A beautiful winter day in South Bristol, the ice thickness was at 18 inches and the temps were in the 20s to low 30s. Five tiers of ice were stacked, totaling approximately 8 feet tall. The ice saw was repaired by the Owls Head Transportation Museum and ran flawlessly. Channel 13, Channel 8 and the Lincoln County News were on the pond taking photos, videos and interviewing Ken Lincoln.

Ice Harvest 2024
This year’s harvest hosted over 700 people on a beautiful winter day. Cars were lined up on Route 129 for miles. We were excited about all the publicity… Lincoln County News, The Weather Channel, Channel 6 and Dave Dostie Photography were in attendance… interviewing, photographing and filming. Our gas powered saw quit mid way through, but it gave us the opportunity to use hand saws and get more folks involved! We harvested 500 blocks of ice!
We host three fundraisers a year, with all proceeds going to the preservation of the Thompson Ice House…this event was a wonderful success!
Senator Bill Bradley, a retired basketball player, connected with us about the Ice Harvest to get this great interview on American Voices:
